Taiwan, 1979 - The student Yu-Lian (Feng-Jiao), who is also working as a reporter in her spare time,
sees a stage performance by the singer Li Kang-Ming (who's originally from HK) and writes an article about him.

After the interview they go seperate ways but bang into each other some hours later at night. Yu-Lian realizes that Kang-Ming
is nothing else than a student himself and who sings at night in bars. She makes fun of him and they leave each other in anger.
At home Yu-Lian tells her mother (played by Kwei Ya-Lei, to Jackie Chan fans known as "Lady Rose" in "Miracles")
about her verbal fight with this HK guy and finally notices that she has lost her photo negatives when she ran into Kang-Ming
(the last pic above shows that Yu-Lian suffers of bad bellyaches very often, her mother thinks it's an result of her hysteria)

The next day Kang-Ming is standing at their door to talk with Yu-Lian but she refuses to talk with this "naughty boy".
When she finally comes out of her room to greet him he's gone but left the negatives at the living room table.
Yu-Lian feels guilty (Kang-Ming had heard her bad words about him when he was waiting for her) and apologizes.

Kang-Ming fells in love with the wild & stubbornly but also innocent girl and follows her everywhere!
When he invites her to spend a day together she's sceptical in the beginning but her mother (who doesn't know the truth) notices
Yu-Lian's tenseness on the date's day that she makes her to go to the appointment.

The young couple has a wonderful day together, they steal fruits from a plantage and having fun on the beach.

The next day Yu-Lian has cought a cold because of the day before.
Sitting there thinking of Kang-Ming she finally tells her mother of her new boyfriend.

But things changes very soon.
Yu-Lian's mother meets Kang-Ming's big brother to find out that he is her former lover!
They both are against the young love and Yu-Lian & Kang-Ming aren't allowed to meet each other again.

As a result both run away from home and move into an own flat in Taipei, letting their families unknown of the location.

After another altercation Kang-Ming asks Yu-Lian to wear a red rose when she comes back from work to show
him if she really loves him or not. When she arrives she's bringing a HUGE bunch of red flowers!
Happy as never before they fall into each other's arms. But their happy moment ends abruptly when Yu-Lian's bellyaches start again...

In the hospital they get to know that Yu-Lian has a kidney disease and only an operation can help her. They need the help of a family member
so they contact her mother and she helps Yu-Lian to get healthy. Now Kang-Ming and Yu-Lian are allowed to stay together
and even Yu-Lian's mother and Kang-Ming's big brother find a way to live with each other again!

(another part of the story is that the doctor who's operating Yu-Lian is her physical father... but I left out this long part,
it would make the story confusing if you haven't seen the movie yourself)

Jewel's comment:
It's a romantic drama without many funny scenes. The movie is okay but I have seen better Feng-Jiao movies.
The best part of the movie is Alan Tam's music everywhere in the movie! :P  The actors/actresses are great but the movie is laking something.
Feng-Jiao is acting like a little girl in some scenes and I thought this destroys the mood sometimes.

In the end still a fine movie that has a great soundtrack!

I give it a 5 out of 10.
