Because this is one of
my absolute faves of Feng-Jiao's movies this one gets more pictures and more details in
the summary!
Enoy it! ;-)

Gui-Zhi (Feng-Jiao) and You-Cheng (Alan) are a happy couple that finally marries. There's
a lot of trouble with their parents
who don't like each other very much (but I won't report too much about this, the
summary would be too long *lol*)
Also the wedding night isn't really romantic. Gui-Zhi gets a phone call by her mum if
she's okay! *lolol* And You-Cheng gets a big box
with countless condoms as a wedding gift by Gui-Zhi's mother!!! You-Cheng (of course)
isn't amused at all about that! ;-)

The time flies and their marriage goes well (beside some little quarrels)... Both, husband
and wife are working
and Gui-Zhi plans to continue working when she finally has a baby.

When another collegue of Gui-Zhi gets pregnant and is fired, Gui-Zhi is very sure that she
wants her job more than a baby.
When she tells her hubby You-Cheng about it he is shocked because it's one of his biggest
dream to have a little family.
Gui-Zhi stays with her decission but adds that they could have a baby later when they have
saved some money.
You-Cheng is horrified that his wife doesn't want to be a "normal housewife"...

He talks with his parents about this (who want to have a grandson as soon as possible).
You-Cheng's mother reacts instantly,
she takes You-Cheng's condoms and prickles little holes in them!!!
Some weeks later the very shocked Gui-Zhi is pregnant! She's meeting all her girlfriends
and discusses her situation
and how she loses more and more her freedom in her marriage like many women.

Also Gui-Zhi's pregnancy is full of ups and downs. She's always calling You-Cheng at work.
In the first moment she's totally happy
and is flirting with her husband, during the next phone call she's hysterical and afraid
of being alone at home! (*hahaha! A really funny scene!*)

Their daughter Feng-Feng is born and the nights get longer and longer. *lol* Gui-Zhi is
careing for their baby all day long
while You-Cheng is working in his office or at the filming location (he's in the
commercial business). He complaining that his dinner
isn't prepared when he comes home and that he deserves this kinda treatment from his wife
after a hard day at work.

He doesn't see that Gui-Zhi has enough work at home with the baby and she's getting really
depressed.
There are more and more verbal fights between the couple and Gui-Zhi is crying her tears
out when she's at a short meeting with
her best friend. You-Cheng and Gui-Zhi stay together of course and try to live without
such big arguments.

Four years later, You-Cheng and his parents make Gui-Zhi to get another baby (this time it
should be a boy).
Gui-Zhi is only willing to have another baby when You-Cheng promises to get sterilized
after it! Again You-Cheng is shocked!! *hahaha*
The second baby arrives, a boy, and the chaos at home starts again; it even gets worse
with 2 kids and a little dog in their little flat.

While Gui-Zhi tells her mum about her frustration, You-Cheng is in a bar playing drinking
games
(just like the drinking game in Jackie Chan's "Shanghai Noon") with his mates!
When he comes home drunk Gui-Zhi isn't very amused.
She decides to start working again in her old job. She wants her freedom back and
You-Cheng to live her situation at home.

She really starts in her old job and soon she is the second manager in her office!
Because of her new position, Gui-Zhi works till in the late evening and her husband and
kids don't see her that often anymore!

Gui-Zhi works hard but she's happy again! Maybe TOO happy because she more and more
forgets her family...

When the little family is invited to a party, Gui-Zhi's change is very obvious.
While her husband
is sitting with their children at a table, she's having fun with her own friends, actually
ignoring her family!
You-Cheng leaves the party angry and denies to talk to her when she arrives later at home.
She doesn't follow You-Cheng into the flat but goes into her office where she thinks about
what went wrong.
When she comes home the next evening her husband and kids are gone and left a letter in
the living room.
You-Cheng writes in the letter that he now sees that Gui-Zhi is a business woman and not a
house wife and that he'll wait
for her until she think she's prepared to be a housewife and mother only.
But till then he'll leave her because he cannot live with this situation being ignored by
his own wife.

Gui-Zhi is jumping into the next taxi and follows You-Cheng. She thought about
everything the whole last day and
also came to the conclusion that she didn't act better than her husband before.
They both have to find a way to have BOTH, a good family life AND a career.
Of course she finds him and there's a happy end as usual! ;-)
Jewel's comment:
I love this movie! :) First of all because Feng-Jiao and Alan Tam are a
great couple and also the other actors/actresses are funny!
The whole topic of the movie is quite interesting too if you think about that the
movie was made 20 years ago in Taiwan!
A mother and wife that breaks out of her usual life and gets her freedom back! :)
The movie is funny and exciting and you also feel with Feng-Jiao when she's having
all those trouble at home
while her husband is having fun with his friends in a bar. Such a typical
situation!
I wonder how the Taiwanese and Chinese audience reacted to this movie. Was it a
success or a flop?! This would be interesting to know...
