After a loooong 4-years break, Jackie finally released another music
album in 1992. "The First Time" was his first Mandarin (Putonghua) album
and he now had a Taiwanese record company instead of a Japanese one. Not
only the language changed but also Jackie's style changed to more
softer, melancholical songs and now he also had music videos for his
single releases.
In the video "My Feeling (Gan shou)" Maggie Cheung Man-Yuk joins
Jackie as his girlfriend. It tells a really nice but also sad story. The
song can also be heard in the Hongkong ending credits of Jackie's movie
"Twin Dragons" (in which Maggie Cheung Man-Yuk also acts beside Jackie).
But the Jackie's biggest hit in Asia ever he had with the song "So
transparent is my heart (Ming ming bai bai wo de xin)" with Sarah
Chen. Jackie still tells in interviews that it's now a very popular
karaoke song all around Asia. Of course he's pround about his success
with this song. The music video to the song is simple but fits to the
song. Two songs ("Reddish Face" and "Betel Nuts Beaty") on
this album are sung in Taiwanese (another Chinese language beside
Cantonese and Mandarin).
My two fave songs on this are "My Feeling" and the amazing "You
are a lover in my dreams".
All in all a beautiful and romantic album.
I give it a 8 out of 10.
p.s.: To me the above title translations into English aren't
really 100 percent correct. I just took the translations that you can
find on the original CD release! *lol*
For example track 8 "You are a lover in my dreams" I'd
translate as
"In my dreams you are my lover". And even Jackie translates "So
transparent is my heart" always as "Please understand my heart"... |
