Jackie's second Cantonese album "Jackie Chan" was
more of a "new album" than his Cantonese debut album (which mostly was
put together with Cantonese new versions of his Japanese songs).
Here's again a list of the old/new versions of the song (like I also did
with "Sing Lung" the Cantonese debut album)... :-)
| |
new track (on this album): |
|
old track: |
|
track 1: |
Before the midnight kiss
(Canto) |
= |
Identical with "Night of
Passion Melody" on
"Hongkong, My Love" (only different title) |
|
track 3: |
Giant feelings
(Canto) |
= |
same version like on "Mou
Man Tai" (1987) |
|
track 7: |
This night (Canto) |
= |
totally
new arranged version of "Dream Ties" (Japanese) |
|
track 8: |
I can do it (Canto) |
= |
Identical
with "You change my life" on "Hongkong, My Love" (only different
title) |
The rest of the album are all new
songs. :-)
You can hear a style change in Jackie's songs.. Other people composed
and wrote his Cantonese songs. "Jackie Chan" isn't one of Jackie's best
albums but I like to hear Jackie singing Cantonese a lot.
"Stay with me" and "Grow" are cute little pop songs, "New diary" has a
latino-like arrangement (which makes this ballad really sound beautiful).
Those duets with Naoko Kawai aren't really my taste, I don't like
Naoko's voice at all... but maybe other Jackie fans see it differently
;-)
This album gets 6 out of 10. |
