After the not so great Canto-debut-album "Sing
Lung" in 1986, Jackie released his fourth Japanese record called "Mou
Man Tai". The Cantonese title says it already - it's not a Japanese-only
record like all his other Japanese albums before. 2 of the songs "Giant
Feelings" and "Mou Man Tai (No Problem)" are sung totally in Cantonese.
The rest is in Japanese. The album has some classics, real jewels, on it:
songs like "Rain of jealousy falls", "Stardust Bay Blues"
and "Dream Ties" belong to some of Jackie's best songs ever (in
my opinion). "Telephone" is just a spoken Cantonese track to his
Japanese fans (with the translation to Japanese in the booklet). "Miss
Temptation", "Tears of Jade" and "Maria My Love" are sadly a little bit
boring... With the 3 first mention songs this album could have
been a masterpiece.
I give the album 8 out of 10. |
