Armour of God (Chinese Songs)
("Lorelei" - 1986)
- all songs sung in Cantonese -

Armour of God (International)
("Thunder Arm" - 1986)
- all songs sung in English -

It's the solo album by Alan Tam (co-star in "Armour of God") that includes the songs from the movie.
In the Chinese version there isn't one single song that's sung by Jackie Chan!
In the outtakes you hear Alan's song "Lorelei" instead. And the song "Friend of mine" is sung by Alan Tam alone.
This is an international release of Alan Tam that also includes the songs from the movie's "international version"-songs.
Many fans love "Midnight Rider" so much - here you can get the English version from!
But the album seems to be really rare now.
You have to look very carefully at www.ebay.com to find it.

Jewel's critique:

So many Jackie fans write to me and ask for the songs from "Armour of God" - mostly for the international version.
Everyone knows Jackie's great song called "Flight of the Dragon (High upon high)" (you can hear it in the outtakes of the movie), Alan Tam's "Midnight Rider" and the duet by Alan and Jackie together - "Friend of mine".

The reason for those many fan requests is that those wonderful songs are really really hard to find!  :-(

I was kinda lucky - in 2002 I could get the vinyl record (sadly no CD) of "Thunder Arm". It's Alan Tam's English album with (most of) the songs we love so much from the movie. It was an Australian seller at ebay by the way! (just as a hint where you should try to search it)

What I really don't get is that "Thunder Arm" doesn't contain the duet with Jackie (Friend of mine). Instead there's a duet with a Japanese female singer Nashimi Sakakuchi (or something like that) on it - her name isn't listed anywhere on the record or cover but I found this info on the internet. Mrs. Sakakuchi isn't really a great singer if you ask me - I wonder why Alan Tam chose her?!

By the way, my copy doesn't have the Japanese title like you can see it in the picture above. My cover has the title in English.

And that's another bad point for the record "Thunder Arm". It doesn't contain "Flight of the Dragon" (sung by Jackie).
Since now I only have the Cantonese version of the song - it's on Jackie's solo album called "Sing Lung" and was also released in 1986.

Anyway - if you want to have Alan Tam's "Midnight Rider" in English you should try to get "Thunder Arm" at ebay!
And If you like Alan Tam's music you'll love this one too.

The album "Lorelei" with the Cantonese songs is available at YesAsia.com - and it's even remastered on CD now.
So get it if you are interested :-)

If anyone has infos about records with "Flight of the Dragon" and the Alan-Jackie-duet "Friend of mine", please let me know!
Thanks a lot!   -->  email
